The arrangements

Every piece in this catalogue was arranged for piano by Atlantic Notes.

Not adapted, not generated — written out, one piece at a time, and graded by the person who wrote them so you know what you are walking into. The gradings you see on each song are theirs.

They are not ours. Without them there is nothing here to play.

If you play these, support the person who wrote them. New arrangements exist because somebody sits down and makes them, and that is what keeps happening or stops happening.

The instrument

The piano you hear is recorded, not synthesised. It is Salamander Grand Piano V3 — a Yamaha C5 grand, recorded by Alexander Holm and released under CC BY 3.0.

Thirty notes a minor third apart cover the whole keyboard; everything between them is pitched from its nearest neighbour, so what you hear on any key is a real hammer hitting a real string, moved a tone or two. That licence asks for attribution and nothing else, which is a generous thing to do with several years of work.

The rest of it

The engine, the interface and the artwork are ours. No frameworks, no build step, no third-party scripts on the page: the whole thing is plain JavaScript reading MIDI, building charts and driving the Web Audio API, which is why it starts as fast as it does.

Type is Exo 2 and Inter, both under the SIL Open Font License. They are served from this site rather than from Google, so opening a page here does not send your address to anyone we have not named in the privacy policy.

To everybody who reports a piece that will not play, a key that does not map, or a translation that reads like a machine wrote it. That is the only way any of it gets found. info@pianify.net.
